An Eaton County village tied to Holt
Dimondale is an Eaton County village on the Grand River, platted in 1856 around a sawmill and grist mill. Its own high school merged into the Holt school district in 1963, so the village looks toward Holt as much as toward Charlotte.
Windsor Township around it is almost entirely owner-occupied (96%). With so few rentals, most sellers here are owners: families who have outgrown a house, are retiring, or have inherited a parent’s home.
If the house needs work, or you would rather skip months of showings, Dave buys it as-is. You set the closing date, in as little as 10 days or later if you need time.

A village laid out on the diagonal
Isaac Dimond came here in 1848 and had a dam and sawmill running on the Grand River by 1852. The village he platted runs on the diagonal, with streets going northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast while the farm roads around it run north and south, and its borders make a rough diamond on a map. Interstate 96 came through Windsor Township in 1962. In the 1960s and 1970s Dimondale was known for championship horseshoe pitching, earning the nickname “Horseshoe Capital of the World.” The 2020 census counted 1,134 residents in the village and 7,140 in the township.
Before settlement, the Potawatomi kept a permanent camp along the river here, and settlers deeded 10 acres near the water to the local band, which held it until the Indian Removal Act forced them west. A post office called East Windsor moved to the village and took the name Dimondale in 1872, the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway arrived in 1878, and by 1880 there were a sawmill, a grist mill, a planing mill, two millinery shops and several machine shops. Dimondale incorporated in 1906. The horseshoe club was founded in 1964, the village hosted the 1965 state tournament, and six Dimondale pitchers are in the Wolverine State Horseshoe Pitchers Association Hall of Fame.
Closer to Lansing, filed in Charlotte
Dimondale and Windsor Township are in Eaton County, so probate, deeds and back taxes are handled at the Eaton County complex in Charlotte, even though downtown Lansing is closer.
Windsor Township was organized in 1842, covers about 35 square miles and includes the small community of West Windsor. Its owner-occupied share is among the highest on this site; where homes are rented, the Census puts the median rent at $1,003 a month across the township and $876 in the village. Holt Public Schools still runs Dimondale Elementary School. Dave buys owner-occupied and rented houses alike, as-is.
